Perennial Cycle has been supporting #30daysofbiking for over 10 years by having Pastry Rides every Saturday in April. In 2026 we continue this fun series.
Pastry Rides are free and start in the back of the shop (3342 Hennepin Ave) with a 9am meetup/registration and 9:30 rollout.
• Rides are typically 4–8 miles and the pace is conversational (also known as "pastry" pace).
• All Pastry Rides are family friendly. Nine year olds are going to be able to ride along at our distance and speed just fine. If your child is younger than 9 and wants to ride their own bike use your best judgment.
• There is often a raffle at the destination.
What to expect:
• 9:00–9:30 we gather in the parking lot behind the shop
• There is ride registration under the green Perennial Cycle tent
• When you register you will also add your name to the raffle
• At the destination we will have pastries and coffee/tea/cocoa together. Let us know if you have dietary restrictions, we typically have alternatives.
• If there’s a raffle, it will happen after pastries are served.
• Other activities could include face painting, live music or storytelling.
• There is always a group ride back to the shop, though typically this is a much smaller group as people go off in their own directions from the ride destination.
• When you join a Pastry Ride you are consenting to photographs being taken that may include you. Let us know when you register if you prefer not to be photographed and we’ll do our best to minimize the use of your picture.
• These rides are more about community and fun than about miles on the bike. There’s no need for a kit, and clipless pedals can be challenging on a pastry paced group ride as there may be many stops/starts.

Riese & Müller offer a wide range of amazing electric bikes that are all built to order in Mühltal, Germany. While we at Perennial Cycle are focused on their smooth rolling, front loading cargo bikes, R & M have a full line of electric bikes available.
Most of our R & M's are sold as custom configured builds. While this is a common way of doing things in Germany, it requires a little extra planning (and patience) for we Americans wanting to get one of these beauties : )
Perennial Cycle orders Riese and Müller bikes to have available to sell, but the process, space and cost does not make it easy for us to consistently have them available (especially when you look at the myriad of options...).
The process to get your very own customized R & M is to work with us to get a configured bike (to your spec), place the order with us by paying a 20% deposit at which time we study the build schedule to get an anticipated production date.
If you want to look at the Riese & Müller configuration tool:
Pick the model you want to configure here: https://www.r-m.de/en-us/bikes/
Once you've chosen a specific model, click on it and scroll down the page to get a feel for the spec choices. At the bottom of the page you have the option to start making choices. This is how you start configuring a custom bike...

You can start this process by calling or emailing:
- with a description of what you'd like and how you are going to be using the bike. or
- you can configure a bike from the R & M website and then send us the configuration to code (and we'll go through it with you on the phone, in person or via email).
R & M maintains a production schedule that gives us dates for all their bike's production runs.
Typically the bikes have a 10-12 week delivery time. This can be speeded a bit by paying extra for expedited shipping.
Welcome
Fall brings no big changes to our COVID-19 response other than that we are hopeful that in one year we might be doing things differently (#fingerscrossed). The one real change is that we are closed both Sunday AND Monday, though appointments can be made for Mondays.
